Posted September 07, 2018 05:02:50 When Tim and Katie Kastor opened their doors at their Sydney home in November 2015, they expected to bring their family of three.
But their family life turned out to be more complicated than they expected, with their daughter, two sons, a grandson and a sister.
Their two-and-a-half-year marriage ended in June, after the couple divorced over the family’s inability to reconcile.
They have since been searching for a new home for their family, with the Kastors seeking out a new start for their kids.
“We had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to be able to take a family home and make sure that we were well on our way to being happy and healthy,” Tim Kastore said.
“It was a real struggle to keep that together for a couple of years.”
They decided to take their family to the Netherlands for the first time last year and then to Sweden.
Tim and Katie were so overwhelmed by the Netherlands they were worried they were losing their family.
“I felt like I was losing my life and my family,” Tim said.
He and Katie travelled to the city of Utrecht for a weekend in August to spend the holiday with their family and they were happy to be reunited.
“They were really warm, they were really happy,” Tim explained.
“And then we just went back to Sydney and then we went back and we were going back to Australia.”
Tim and his family were able to enjoy their honeymoon and their honeybaby.
“So it was just wonderful to be there with our family,” he said.
But Tim said he was also concerned about his future as a father.
“My wife is the one who’s actually taking care of me and my two kids and it’s just a matter of me getting a bit older and then I’ll start looking at my future, because I want to be the best dad I can be,” he added.
“You just never know when you’re going to be at the end of your career and it might not be a good career.”
Tim Kastored the Dutch capital to be their new home.
“For us to have that opportunity to be together again was amazing,” he laughed.
“When you see people having kids and having a life and you’re able to be around them, it’s a really big deal.”
The couple also had their first child, born in February 2017, and Tim said they were very proud of him.
“He’s so adorable, you could not believe how he looked at you when he came out,” he joked.
Tim said the family had a lot to look forward to when they moved to the Dutch city of Groningen, which was the destination they had been dreaming about for so long.
“There was this really amazing lifestyle, we had this amazing apartment, we got a wonderful gym and we just had so much fun, so it was amazing that we could have that and it was the perfect home,” he explained.
He said they also had a new car and a new dog named Tootsie.
“This is just such an amazing family.
You can just see they’re so happy and so loving,” he revealed.”
Everywhere you go you just see people just going through this wonderful journey of happiness.”
