How to buy a Tesla and be prepared for the inevitable
- by admin
A lot of Tesla owners are looking forward to the new Tesla Roadster, which the automaker unveiled today, but there are a lot of questions and concerns that must be answered before the car arrives in stores.
The question of whether or not the new Roadster will be a good buy has already been answered by many.
The car’s battery capacity is expected to be about 7 kilowatt-hours (kWh) but that may be significantly lower than Tesla’s official estimates.
The company says the Roadster’s powertrain will be able to generate 1,400 miles per charge (1,000 kilometers) without the use of a battery pack.
Tesla has said that the battery pack will only need to be connected to the vehicle for a certain period of time, though this could be as little as 20 hours.
Tesla said the new car will be capable of driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 10 hours and back again in 10.2 hours.
A number of experts have also predicted that the Roadsters performance would be comparable to that of a Nissan Leaf, a vehicle that was launched last year.
The Roadster is powered by a 7 kWh lithium ion battery pack, and the battery packs capacity is said to be 7 kWh, which is approximately the same capacity as a Volkswagen Passat’s 8 kWh battery pack (which is currently on sale).
The battery pack has also been touted as a significant improvement over Tesla’s current Tesla Roadsters, which were also powered by an 8 kWh lithium battery pack and were limited to 200 miles per day.
The new Roadsters battery will reportedly provide approximately 2.3 miles of range per charge.
Tesla says that the vehicle will also be able travel up to 35 miles per hour, and it has said the car will have a top speed of up to 210 miles per minute (105 kilometers per hour).
Tesla has not revealed the price of the new roadster yet, but it will likely be around the $100,000 mark.
It will be available in the second half of 2020.
