Just buy your own mask.
According to a report released by the Transportation Security Administration on Wednesday, nearly 70 million Americans travel with personal protective equipment (PPE) on a daily basis.
The agency has released data showing that PPAs are the most frequently used tool among the roughly 6.3 million American travelers who use them.
The data was collected by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Transportation Security Screening Center.
Its goal is to make aviation safer, but not just for airline employees, but also for passengers.”PPAs are a very important tool,” Transportation Secretary John Pistole said in a press release.
“We must continue to use them and use them in a way that protects the public.”
According to the TSA, PPAs can include face shields, gloves, masks, headgear, face masks, face shields and ear protectors.
While these items are meant to be used only on the plane, TSA’s data shows that a significant number of passengers who use the items on the ground have been injured or killed in an accident or while trying to board planes.
“The biggest danger of today’s air travel is the potential for injury or death,” the TSA said in its release.
More than 50 percent of those killed were not wearing a mask.
Pistorole said the agency would continue to focus on the needs of passengers while protecting the public.
A number of states have passed bills to ban the use of PPE, including Washington, D.C., California and Texas.
Currently, the federal government is in the process of passing a bill that would ban the devices altogether.
This could happen before the end of the year, though, with several other states considering similar bills in the next couple of weeks.
